Jo Brennan recently joined Nectar Creative Communications as our Event Coordinator.

Here’s five questions with Jo as we get to know our newest team member.

  1. What’s your history before landing at Nectar

Prior to my position with Nectar, I worked for a Professional Conference Organiser as an Events Coordinator.

I was also employed by Virgin Australia for 8 years and worked in the Business, Events and Groups department. My position involved organising private charter flights as well as group and VIP travel.

  1. How did 2020 work out for you

It would be an understatement to say that 2020 was a challenging year. One minute I was ready to fly down to Sydney for a large International conference we were managing and the next minute I found myself redundant.

Having time off in 2020 has certainly put life into perspective and my priorities have changed. My family, friends and good health are what really matters.

  1. What do you see being the biggest industry challenges coming into 2021

The biggest challenge for the Events Industry are the unknowns of the COVID-19 pandemic.  Trying to plan the next virtual, hybrid, or in-person event in this unpredictable environment has its challenges.

I believe we will see a continued trend towards Hybrid Events. The biggest challenge is generally the short lead times and creating new ideas on how to keep both virtual and in-person participants engaged.

  1. What are you most looking forward to this year from a work perspective

The Events Industry certainly looks quite different to pre-COVID times and I am excited to see what the next 12 months will look like for the Industry.

I am looking forward to mastering the OnAIR virtual platform and working in the new world of Virtual and Hybrid events. I believe the changes to the Industry will bring innovation and excitement to each event.

  1. Where is the first place you’d like to go when international travel returns

I have a long list of International travel destinations on my bucket list, one of the top would be to return to the Caribbean. I am particularly interested in visiting the Bahamas, Barbados, Cuba, Jamaica and Aruba.

Beautiful beaches, snorkelling and cocktails at sunset sounds like the perfect getaway!
